HI! Let me explain my absence. I have been trying to find somewhere to live. I am moving to a new city to study, and when I tell you I've been stressed... It's an understatement.

It got to the point I was having nose bleeds. Yeah, it got bad.

I do not like feeling stressed. I like being organised, using time efficiently, feeling on top of my game! But, life doesn't always work like that. Sometimes things go wrong, sometimes you have to drop things so you can prioritise others. That's how my past few weeks have looked.

I haven't been able to get in the studio to record a podcast in around three weeks. I have lots of episodes to write and research, but because I have had to divert all my attention to "Life Admin", It has had to sit on the back burner. That, alongside working out, sensible sleep pattern, cooking... yeah, it's not been great.

So! I thought to go along with the new episode of The Digestible Podcast, I thought I would list off a few ideas to manage, and work with your level of stress.

Resting

Easier said than done, right? Finding the perfect restful activity for you is quite the challenge. I don't know about you, but I find meditation not majorly relaxing... my mind just runs wild! SAYING THAT, finding something like meditation, deep breathing, light exercise or even napping.

Stopping the stress in its tracks by resting is a effective quick reliever for feeling that nasty threat full pressure. We all know finding true rest when you already feel wired up is quite a feat, so this one will take a bit of refining.

Do not feel guilty taking time to rest. You need it. Your body needs it.

Grounding

This is interesting, because although somewhat 'obvious' I didn't know it had a name to it. Grounding is unwinding yourself from the overwhelming emotion by doing something to 'Ground' you.

This could be getting a drink, laughing, going for a walk, a shower, anything that works for you to break the cycle of emotion. I'm no expert in this, but theres a lot of great recourses for finding the best mechanism that works for you.

I have found a walk or a change in task helps me. It breaks up the tasks meaning they don't seem to big and scary!

Nutrition

What d'ya know?! Nutrition plays an enormous role in the function of the human body, mentally and physically. Having proper nutrition is extremely important, no wonder that doing so can help regulate stress levels. Speaking with a registered Nutritionist can be invaluable in the self betterment for all levels! Invest in yourself.

Reaching Out

There is nothing to be ashamed about if you are overwhelmed with stress. It's okay to feel the way you are feeling. One of the best things you could do is speak about it. It could be a friend, a family member or even a health professional. A stressful situation can feel so big and scary in your mind, but once said outlaid it's often easier to take a second look at it, especially with a different pair of eyes with you.

Stress can be be something small to something huge. If you are struggling, reach out. There's no harm in helping yourself.

SO.

Taking care of yourself is so extremely important. If you are having trouble managing stress, that's okay! Again, It's nothing to be ashamed of. Life gets tough, it doesn't make you any less of a person.

If you are recognising this, there are so many health professionals you can speak to for tailored advice. By all means try out some of these tips, but if you're still left wound up tightly, reach out for some help. Help can only help, right? There should be no negativity surrounding bettering yourself. I'm cheering you on!

See you soon,

Bethany xx
